Today we will see how we can use vscode IDE and execute code using google’s resources from google colab.

By using an open source library called (link –  colabcode) created by Kaggle Grandmaster Abhishek Thakur.

 The colabcode python script has different parametersdefined like port number, password, connection etc. That readily installs codeserver on your local machine and starts a server using ngrok which is an cross-platform application that enables developers to expose a local development server to the Internet with minimal effort.

For accesing vs code you can follow these steps in your google colab notebook.

!pip install colabcode

from colabcode import ColabCode
ColabCode(port=10000, password=("xxxxx") #set password

You can also use this to run kaggle notebook on competition data.

Step – 1 Click the link

Step 2 – Click on Open Folder

Step 3 – Select the /root/ folder.

Now, you can use vs-code IDE using colab server.
